synopsis
Rei Tsukiyora is a jaded young man who runs a pawnshop in Miyogawa’s seedy underworld. One afternoon, he intervenes in the abduction of Akari Hashimoto. Injured in the process, Rei hands the young girl off to the local authorities. He tries not to get involved with her—though Akari has other ideas in mind.

Following her rescue, Akari becomes a regular patron at Rei’s store. Her flashy presence causes a stir in the run-down place and disrupts business. Unable to kick the rich heiress out, Rei is persuaded (or forced) to close up shop and accept her offers of assistance. With the new opportunities Akari provides, it seems Rei’s life may finally be on an upswing.

Yet, fate won’t let him go that easily. Akari’s entrancing looks and eminent status catch the eyes of Ryuichi Satou. As the head of Miyogawa’s largest company, he spares no resources on seducing her. An irate Ryuichi even accosts the pair at Rei’s residence, though Akari flatly rejects him.

Humiliated, the scorned prodigy concocts a grand scheme that will lead to the hostile takeover of Akari’s company, and eventually, her heart. He swears to sully every fiber of her innocence. As for Rei… Ryuichi vows to bury him in an everlasting abyss.

While it‘s celebrated as a land of promise, don’t let its glittering lights distract you from the squalor that lies underneath. The beautiful walls may appear polished to perfection, but a solid foundation cannot rest on a rotten core…

Heartsworn Abyss is an interactive visual novel. Key decisions will have to be made at several points in the story. Miyogawa is an enigmatic place replete with events that are both absurd and inevitable. Abase, betray, lie… do whatever it takes to get by. Only through tainting oneself can one hope to slog through the mire…
